Welcome to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Youth Organization in Fremont, CA!
The Oakland Diocese Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) is a church-sponsored athletic program for youth in 3rd - 8th grades from the parishes of the Catholic Diocese of Oakland. CYO Sports are offered by the Church as a ministry to young people.
CYO is dedicated to nurturing the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, social, and physical growth of young people. Rooted in Catholic values, CYO helps youth develop responsibility for themselves, their faith, their peers, and their communities, while welcoming participants of all religious backgrounds.
Through every activity, CYO provides opportunities for young people to grow toward Christian adulthood. Athletics serve as a vehicle for developing self-esteem, self-discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play while reinforcing the values of faith.
The success of the CYO program depends on all adult volunteers remembering that the primary purpose of CYO is the Christian growth of young people. Adults are expected to model Christian virtues and create a positive environment where youth can thrive.
The Mission of the CYO Program is to:
•Promote Christian values and the principles of the CYO philosophy through sports.
•Foster sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive relationships among players, coaches, officials, parents, spectators, and the parish community.
•Encourage loyalty to CYO ideals and strengthen connections to the parish community.
•Faithfully serve youth through a ministry grounded in Christian values and personal growth.
To participate in our programs, youth must either be enrolled in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Faith Formation program or reside in the parish boundary. Youth who reside in a parish that does not offer a CYO program may also be eligible to register with us. Use the Parish Locator in the Useful Links corner of our homepage to determine eligibility.
